Description

In this tutorial we'll learn a beginner classical guitar piece by Fernando Sor 'Study No. 1, Opus 60'. This is a very simple piece written as a mostly single note melody specifically for the purpose of providing beginners with beautiful pieces to play.

Fernando Sor (1778-1839) was a classical Spanish guitarist and composer. He wrote many wonderful pieces for classical guitar beginners. This piece will give us a lot of practice at playing the lower register position, playing basic melodies and rhythms, looking ahead and planning the best place for finger placement.

Play the piece one measure at a time until you get each measure right. Then, move on to the next measure. Next, work on connecting two measures you have them accomplished and under your fingers. When you have all the separate pieces mastered put them together slowly and confidently. When you are learning and practicing a piece it is better to play a wrong note confidently, solidly in time than to play the right note weakly and without conviction.

This piece is in C major, 4/4 time and we'll practice it at 90 BPM and 120 BPM for more of a challenge.
