Description
Frederic Chopin (1810-1849) was a Classical Romantic composer and virtuoso pianist. All of his compositions are either exclusively for or involve the piano. In this tutorial we will learn a solo classical guitar arrangement of Frederic Chopin's 'Grand Waltz' Opus No. 18, No. 1 piano piece.
This arrangement is only a simple arrangement of the main themes in this waltz. Nevertheless, it is enough of an example to show the beauty and skill of Chopin's music. I encourage you to seek out a piano recording of this work. There are many available.
This piece was originally in the key of E-flat major. For the purpose of transcribing it for guitar and for ease of playing it, we'll simplify it considerably and play it in the key of C major. Since it is a waltz it's in 3/4 time signature. We'll aim for about 120 BPM.
