Description
When you pick a note it has a certain sound and attack. That's fine, but when you play a lot of notes in a row it can sometimes sound better if you don't pick all of them, just like not accenting every single word when you say a sentence. One of the tools you can use for this is called hammer-ons and pull-offs.
It's basically a left hand trick that enables you to play a note without having to pick it with your right hand, which will help add fluidity and expression to the ideas you play. There's no limit to how far you can eventually take this concept, but in this tutorial we'll look at the most basic use of hammer-ons and pull-offs in a rock context.
